UX/UI Designer/Researcher

 

Job Purpose: This role will drive comprehensive UX enhancement initiatives focused on supporting marketing enhancements, optimizing site growth through personalization, and developing general concepts for all brands across the enterprise. Utilizing our expansive tool-stack and established processes, this role will contribute to the evolution of design for all Upbound Brands. The UX Designer/Researcher will build a deeper understanding of our users through extensive qualitative and quantitative research, creating managed assets to share with stakeholders. As a champion for design thinking, this role will lead and manage the strategic development of thoughtful experiences through effective relationships across the company. This position is based in our Plano Headquarters, with in-office work required Monday through Friday.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner closely with marketing teams, digital experience, product managers, operations, merchandising, and legal to design solutions that are feasible, intuitive, and drive business growth.
  • Act as a user advocate across various business segments (customer, store operator, merchants), working inclusively to gather business perspectives and requirements to inform successful design and development.
  • Support innovative designs/solutions focused on business growth, retention, marketing, and compliance standards by:
    • Distilling complex concepts into comprehensive and digestible solutions and effectively collaborating with stakeholders to promote desirable outcomes.
    • Assisting in creating and communicating ideas through various methods (mapping, designs, mocks, presentations, flows, reports).
    • Managing the process and delivery of various testing and research methods (user studies, A/B testing, card sorting, process mapping, heat mapping, etc.).
    • Partnering closely with the Digital Experience, Marketing, and Operations teams to effectively map and optimize personalization across brands.
  • Develop and manage the UX/research backlog, planning, and roadmap through regular meetings to ensure effective collaboration, support upcoming projects, and identify future opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with the optimization team to promote company-wide growth by implementing MVT and A/B methodologies, improving optimization, and deploying effective solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with current market trends, business trends, and design patterns.
  • Facilitate design workshops for large or complex initiatives to gather requirements and determine efficient delivery steps.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality work efficiently, with a strong background in UX process mapping and maintaining high standards.
  • Embody a strong entrepreneurial drive with a solid understanding of business needs and goals.
  • Partner closely with the Digital Experience and Merchandising teams to effectively map and optimize personalization across brands.

Job Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of UX/UI/Research Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or related experience (3-4 years)
  • UX Certification with an established portfolio
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in user researcher methods (usability studies, feature testing, surveys, heat maps, A/B/MVT optimization)
  • End-to-end experience within an established UX discipline
  • Strong competence in assessing business impact, development/solution effort, and user goals
  • Proficient in creating design assets needed to convey ideas and development
  • Strong experience with design-related tools (Figma/Sketch/XD)
  • Experience in UX design methodology
  • Experience building, creating, and maintaining user journeys and personas
  • Strong ability to multi-task while contributing to and managing multiple tasks.
