Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for administration of employee benefits in all company lines of business. As needed, provides special guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans. Surveys industry and/or community to determine company's competitive position in employee benefits. Develops, recommends, and installs approved, new, or modified plans and employee benefit policies, and supervises administration of existing plans. Responsible for payment reconciliation for all third- party vendors.  Provides Develops cost control procedures to assure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to company and employee.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages day-to-day operation of both our domestic and international benefit programs. Responsible for vendor management for health, welfare, and retirement savings.  Program compliance with applicable laws and regulations, annual renewals and enrollments and group processes and documentation
  • Evaluates and compares existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information. Plans, develops, and/or participates in area and industry surveys. Analyzes results of surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by management.
  • Develops appropriate communication and educational programs using various media to keep coworkers informed and updated on our company benefit programs. Cultivates and relies upon a close working relationship with the Rent-A-Center communications function
  • Installs approved new plans and changes by preparing announcement material, booklets, and other media for communicating new plans to employees. Conducts employee meetings and arranges for enrollment of employees in optional plans. Conducts employee benefit seminars for local personnel. Revises and reissues all communications material on benefits from time to time. Advises and counsels management and employees on existing benefits
  • Maintains benefits records and documents necessary for reporting and to respond to internal and external audit requests
  • Prepares monthly payments to third party vendors, with specific duties including researching and documenting rational for and appropriateness of submitted expenses and submission of invoices to accounts payable for payment. Prepares weekly savings wires both domestically and internationally, to include running reports, validating data, and obtaining proper approvals.
  • Manages relationship with Leave of Absence (LOA) outsourcing company. Provides guidance on escalated LOA and accommodation cases.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors’ degree in related field preferred
  • Six to eight years of broadbased human resources experience, with a strong working knowledge of both domestic and international benefit design, communication and administration – CBP, SPHR or CEBS certification a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to bring to any task strong analytical and problem-solving skills, superior communication skills (bilingual required), project leadership, vendor management, staff management and a focused attention to processes, practices and workflows
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and human resources information systems as they relate to employee benefit plan administration
